Iris Card

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

Hello Digi Divas! Today I am taking detour from my usual norm. I'm honored to have been a Guest Designer for a new challenge blog- Beautiful Blossoms Challenge. SO- I took this opportunity to dig into my stash! I found an iris image that was given to me 10 to 15 years ago. I can't remember where it originated, but I thought it's an inspirationally beautiful blossom I'd like to share with you.

Suggested card size - 5"x 7"

Iris Free Blossom

Silhouette® A2 vintage oval frame card

Hammermill® 100 lb. White Coverstock or Watercolor stock

DCWV® Double Sided Cardstock

Bazzill® Guacamole Cardstock

American Crafts® Pearlescent Watercolor Set

Paint Brush

VersaMagic® Sea Breeze

Darice® Foliage Die

Studio G® Pearls

Sun Dazzle Flocking

Foam® Tape

Dimensional® Glue

Gold Baker's Twine®

The Iris Digital Image is FREE for the month. When this challenge is completed on April 15th, the Iris will "retire". It's available at my shop on the new Freebies Page!

Size the Iris to 3-3/8"x4-3/4" and print on Watercolor stock or Hammermill® 100 lb. White Coverstock. It is printing in gray to give the image a less harsh effect when watercolored.

I chose to watercolor my image using American Crafts® Pearlescent set and water brushes.

Trace around a 3"x4-1/2" oval. Fussy cut around the oval and Iris edges as shown.

I used Silhouette® A2 vintage oval frame card pattern to cut my cardbase. Cardbase-sized

6-3/4"x10" and oval are cut of the DCWV® Double Sided Cardstock. The 5-1/4"x6-3/4" accent is cut separately of the accent color cardstock.

Score, fold and adhere the accents color to the card front as shown.

Trim the accent color even with the card front.

Apply Foam® Tape to the back side of the Iris image as shown.

Edge the Image oval using VersaMagic® Sea Breeze as shown. Center and adhere in the oval on the front of the card.

Adhere Studio G® Pearls around the image as shown. Medium size pearls as centers and small size pearls between the medium size pearls around the image.

Adhere Sun Dazzle® Flocking to the stem using

Dimensional® Glue and coffee filter.

Wrap Gold Baker's® Twine twice around the Fold/spine and tie a bow as shown.

Add a sentiment of your choosing... I used one of our Freebie sentiments cut out using Tonic® oval die set. Edged using VersaMagic® Purple Hydrangea.

OPTIONAL: I used the oval cut out of the cardbase,

name plaque and a Darice® Foliage die cut to decorate the backside of the card as shown.
