CHRISTMAS CARDINALS

Updated: Dec 8, 2020

Hello Digi Divas! Welcome to my Blog. I'm so glad you stopped by today! Today I'd like to share with you another one of my favorite childhood memories. This memory springs from visits to Kimmswick Missouri- a quaint, small town on the west bank of the Mississippi River just south of St. Louis. It is comprised of log cabins, old farm-type houses, unique little shops and cafes. The gate I chose to draw had been there for many years- but in the last year or so has been replaced. I thought this memory would make a great Christmas card... I have named the NEW stamp set Christmas Cardinals Digital Stamp Set #3300J. I hope you enjoy crafting with it as much as I enjoyed drawing this set of images!

Materials List:

Hammermill® Coverstock 100lb. White COPIC® MARKERS

Royal Blue Card stock W00, W1, W3, W5

Gold Heat Transfer Foil N6, N8

Nuvo® Glitter Drops - White Blizzard B00, B60, B63, B66

Super Thick White Embossing Powder G40, G85

Small Paint Brush YG61, YG63, YG67

Exacto® knife/Scissors R12, R14, R29, R39

Tear-ific® Tape Y00, YR21, YR23, YR24

White Gel Pen E74, E77, E34, E42, E44

The recommended card size is a 5"x7" for this card.

On a landscape 8.5 x 11 layout, I sized (2) two 5"x7" rectangles. Placed the rectangles side by side about 3/4" from either side as guides. In the right rectangle I sized the B&W image (note: the B&W is 2 colors, due to the snow... something I am trying) to 5"x5-1/2" and placed in lower portion of the right rectangle. Print on Hammermill® White 100 lb. cover stock.

On a landscape 8.5 x 11 layout, I sized again (2) two 5"x7" rectangles. Placed the rectangles side by side about 3/4" from either sides as guides. I sized the sentiment 2-1/2"x1" and placed about 1/2" from the top of the rectangle and about 1" from the left of the rectangle. Typed Greetings about 3-3/4" from the top of the rectangle about 1-3/4" from the left of the rectangle. Repeated in the next rectangle and print on Royal Blue card stock.

I colored my image with Copic® Markers and used a white gel pen to add snow accents on the floral piece and jingle bells. Then fussy cut around the image to the left hand side/fold line. I used an Exacto® knife to cut out the gate openings.

I cut (2) two pieces of gold foil and placed over the sentiments and run through the Minc® machine. Cut (2) two 5"x7" pieces. I sprinkled some White Super Thick Embossing Powder on the Royal Blue trying to avoid the sentiments and apply heat gun from underneath until the powder melts. Let Cool. (Careful not to smudge)

Score and fold the colored image and fold. Fold on the left. Open card and apply Tear-ific® tape on the 5"x7" rectangle. Adhere the Royal Blue 5"x7" to the inside of the card. I then applied Nuvo® Glitter Drops-white Blizzard to the snow areas and spread with the small paint brush. Not solid but accents. Let Dry!

I hope you enjoyed making this little

journey down memory lane with me. I

got so excited with this Image I decided

to make a second card. Are you ready?

The recommended card size is a 5"x7" for this card.

On a landscape layout I sized a 3-1/2' x 4-3/4" rectangle and placed about 1/2" from the top and from the side. This is to be used as a guide. I used a tree from the Tree Scene set in B&W and sized one tree 1-1/2"x2-1/2" and placed to the left inside the rectangle and about 1" from the bottom of the rectangle. I sized the second tree image 1-3/4"x3" and place to the right of the rectangle about 3/4" from the bottom of the rectangle. The second tree will extend past the rectangle. I created a White rectangle to white out the extra part of the tree. I then stacked the colored image ... Sized the colored image 3-3/4" x 3-1/2" and place at the bottom of the rectangle so that the trees peek through. I stacked the sentiment above the gate and trees. Then removed the rectangle guide. At the bottom of the page size (2) two of the jingle bells in B&W about 3/4" in size. (You can copy and repeat on the other side of the layout) Print on Hammermill White 100 lb. cover stock.

Colored the trees and the Jingle bells with Copic® Markers. I used a white gel pen to bring out the snow on the trees and floral piece. Cut the (2) images apart.

Center the colored image and sentiment in the Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die and run through the Big Shot®. Leave the image in the die. Using VersaMagic®-Aegean Blue sponge in some clouds in the sky. Then apply Nuvo® Glitter Drops-white blizzard on the gate snow, floral piece and ground accents as shown with a small brush. Let Dry. Remove the die and clean.

On a White 5"x7" card base, apply 1/2" Tear-ific® tape along all four edges of the front. Cut a

4-3/4" x 6-3/4" piece of Blue starred card stock and edge using VersaMagic®-Aegean Blue. Adhere the Blue starred card stock centered on the card base front. Apply waterscape glitter on the edges of the exposed tape.

Apply foam tape to the backside of the gate image and adhere to the front of the card evenly from the top and both sides leaving about 1" from the bottom.

Using a scrap of dark green card stock and the Holly branch die, run through the Big Shot®. Not all of the pieces of the holly needs to be removed. I then Clipped off the last (2) two leaves.

Adhered the Holly branch to the lower right side of the card. Fussy cut the Jingle bells and adhered to the holly in the lower right corner. One bell higher than the other as shown. Added a small red bow and drops of liguid pearls in rouge on the berries. Added Nuvo® Glitter Drops-White Blizzard to the snow on the bells. Let dry.
