Gone Fishin'

Updated: Apr 18

Hello Digi Divas everywhere! Thank you for stopping by and sharing a part of your day with me. Well, looks like Spring has Sprung. Summer will soon be upon us. Time to do something outdoorsy- how about some fishing? I have a NEW Digi Set to celebrate an ageless summer rite- Gone Fishin'. This set is a slice of Americana- a dad (mom), son (daughter), two fishing poles and a quiet afternoon at the local fishin' hole. What better way to spend a beautiful summer afternoon. Ready to get crafty? Here's a short tutorial.

Fur Yarn

(1) Small Pom-pom

Thread

Dimensional Glue®

Foam Tape®

Tear-ific Tape®

Using Gone Fishin' #3425J Digi Stamp Set size the group image 4"x6" with enough room to cut out a 5"x7" rectangle around it. Below size an additional tag and/or sentiment. Tag size to 1"x5/8" and the separate pole 4" long. Print on

Hammermill® Ivory 100lb. Coverstock .

Color the images as desired. I chose to use Copic® Markers. The list of colors are listed

above.

After Image is colored. Cut a 5"x7" rectangle. Using the next to largest Vintage® Torn Edge Rectangle Die I proceeded to cut out the image.

Fussy cut a portion of the strap and put on the non-cut side of the die. Tape into place and run through the Big Shot® 3/4 of the way as shown.

Move the Vintage® Torn Edge Rectangle die

to the other side, Line up with cut area, tape into place and run again through the Big Shot® 3/4 of the way as shown. You may need to clip a small portion between the two cuts.

I made a 5"x7" base cardstock using snippets of fishing lures. Copied and reduced to 4-1/2"x6-1/2" for the inside of the card and added a oval in the center as shown. Printed on white coverstock.

Used VersaMagic®-Aegean Blue along the edges. Using the WeR® Party Banner Nesting Dies i cut my sentiment that I printed with the card base front and interior. Edged with the VersaMagic®-Aegean Blue along the edges.

I mounted the main image 2 ways....

I tried one way using the largest Vintage® Torn Edge Rectangle Die repeating the same method I had used to cut the main image. I decided it hid too much of the Lures so I mounted it a second time leaving a small boarder around the edge. You decide for yourself which you prefer. Adhere the main image to the Lure cardbase cardstock.

Using Memento® - Tangelo Ink I colored a small piece of the Fur Yarn Bright Orange. You could also use Copic® Markers.

I took about 8" of Black thread and dragged it through some dimensional glue. Using tweezers I laid the thread along the fishing line on the image and let dry in place.

Using Dimensional Glue® I adhered several small pieces of the Orange Fur Yarn to cover the Lure as shown.

Using Copic® Marker I colored the small Pom-pom dark brown.

Trimmed back side of Pom-pom flat and glued at head of Lure.

Fussy cut the second fishing rod adhere over the rod on the main image using Foam Tape® (Careful not to glue down the fur to the Lure.)

Fussy cut the extra tag and adhere over the one on the main image using Foam Tape.

In heist I realized I forgot to edge the main image with VersaMagic® - Jumbo Java so, I used a scrap piece of paper and covered the parts around the image and smudged the

edges of the main image.

Using Stitched Banner® Tag Die I cut an Orange banner tag to

accent the lure and adhered it partially behind my sentiment

banner as shown. Using Foam Tape® I adhered it to the front of the cardfront in the upper left hand corner of the main image.

Adhere the card front to a 5"x7" cardbase with the fold at the top.

I dragged a second piece of thread through some Dimensional Glue® and laid it on the interior Lure cardstock and let dry.

I fussy cut another Fishing Rod and adhered it over the thread and clipped the excess thread.

Adhered in the interior of the card base using Tear-ific Tape® as shown.

I hope you enjoyed making this card as much as I did! Perfect for your dad, brother, or favorite outdoorsman.
