Holiday Gingerbread - 3235J

Updated: Feb 22, 2020

Hello Digi Divas, Today I would like to share with you my NEW "Holiday Gingerbread" stamp set. Seems like the Holidays bring out my nostalgic side. I invite you to come along... It is 1983, my daughter was 3-1/2 yrs old and fell in love with the cover of a home magazine ( the name escapes me ) but she carried it around the house and slept with it like most kids would a toy. My husband and I thought it to be a bit odd, what should we do? We needed to do something but at the same time we remembered how we couldn't wait for the Sears Roebuck Catalog. So, we decided to attempt to make this elaborate Gingerbread House from the cover. (We must have been crazy!)

We put her to bed early one night and mixed the dough, the next night we baked and assembled. Three o'clock in the morning I am with a pair of tweezers putting little silver balls on this thing.... But that morning when she got up, the look on that face was SO worth it! Thirty-Five plus years later it is still one of her favorite memories. Here is two (2) cards I would like to share with you inspired by that memory.

Color as desired. I used Copic markers and Sharpie Fine points, list above.

Cut images apart. Left side is cut 7"x8-1/2" as

shown. I used a pencil to mark 6-1/2" with the house

centered. (after making discovered should have

been 6-1/4").

Using a pencil lightly draw a box using the top of

the house as the top line and both sides of the house

for the sides, as shown.

Fussy Cut, stop at the horizon lines. Trim the

side lines.

Use a pencil and lightly mark 1-1/2", 3",

5-3/4". Score along those lines, except for

where the house is. Use the white eraser

to remove any pencil lines.

Fold as shown.

Fussy Cut your Gingerbread people.

Using Nesting Vintage Torn Rectangle Dies center

your sentiment and run through the Big Shot.

Using VersaMagic Aegean Blue to edge your sentiment.

Cut a 1"x5" strip. Accordian fold at 3/4", 2-1/2",

4-1/4". Apply Tear-ific tape to the two (2) 3/4"

flaps. Adhere one to the back side of the front

as shown, and one to the inside back side.

Cut Blue Snowflake cardstock 4"x6-1/2"

(after making discovered it should be 4"x6-1/4")

Cut a 1-1/8" notch to clear the 1" strip as shown.

Apply 1/4" Tear-ific Tape to the back side of the

Blue snowflake cardstock and adhere to the 3rd

panel as shown.

Use VersaMagic Aegean Blue around the edges

of the Blue Snow Flake card Stock and the Front

panel snow edges.

Apply 3M Foam Tape to the backside of the

Gingerbread people and adhere to the front snow

panel.

Apply 3M Foam Tape to the backside of the

sentiment and adhere to the blue snowflake

cardstock in the upper left corner.

Using Sizzix 662424 Tim Holtz Sleigh die set

on Astrobrights Eclipse black card stock, run through

the Big Shot.

Using Scrapbook Adhesives-Black Foam Tape

apply to the back side of the sleigh and adhere the

sleigh just under the sentiment and across the sky

as shown.

Using Studio G- Glitter Glue Iridescent apply along

the horizon snow line, accent snow lines and to the

snow on the roof. Randomly dot the center of snow

flakes. LET DRY!
