May Day Flowers Card

Updated: May 4, 2023

Welcome Digi Divas! I would like to share a memory, one I am sure a number of you share. When we were kids come May 1 we would celebrate spring and dance the Maypole with crepe paper streamers. We'd make paper cones/baskets and fill them with flowers to hang on someone's door we liked. Today I am hanging my flower basket on your door! Come along as we craft this May Day Z-fold creation...

Suggested card size - 5" x 7" Z-fold

MATERIALS LIST: COPIC® MARKERS

Tonic® Essentials Oval Dies

Nuvo® Crystal Drops - Apple Green

Liquid Pearls®- Onyx Pearls

Dew Drops® Brilliance Cosmic Copper

Studio G® - Pigment Pink

(1) Extra Large Rhinestone (off cap of Nuvo drops)

Elmer's® Craft Bond Spray

EZ-Tear® Tape

Dimensional® Glue

Foam® Tape

To start use 925J- May Flowers Digital Stamp Set. I divided the page in half and

insert your floral basket image and size it to

2-1/2" x 6-1/2". Add a sentiment about

1-1/2" long.

Print on Hammermill® White 100lb. Coverstock.

Color as desired; I chose Copic® Markers.

The list of Copic® Markers is listed above.

The color scheme I have chosen is from Beautiful Blossoms Challenge. I am proud to be on their Design Team.

Fussy cut your image. I found cutting the small inner parts are easier if cut out first. Then the outside.

Cut a 3-1/4"x7-1/2" rectangle of White and one of DCWV® Double Sided Card Stock - Fuchsia.

Cut the White with the Large Vine Background Die. Cut the Fuchsia with the Hallow of the Large Vine Background die as shown.

Using Elmer's® Craft Bond Spray glue,

spray the backside of the Vine and adhere

to the Fuchsia of the hallow as shown.

Pick your coordinating colored papers. I chose mine from my scrap stash.

Trim the Vine panel to 2-1/2" wide as shown.

Cut a 2"x7" rectangle of the Newsprint.

Edge using Dew Drops® Brilliance Cosmic Copper.

Cut a 3-1/2"x7" rectangle of the Pink Mist.

Edge using Studio G®- Pigment Pink.

Using a 5"x7" Z-fold cardbase, adhere the Pink Mist rectangle to the 3-1/2"x7" front panel as shown.

Adhere the Vine die cut to the front card flap with the fancy edge at the fold as shown.

Adhere the 2"x7" Newsprint rectangle to the outside edge of the card inside edge as shown.

Carefully adhere the fussy cut image to the card front flap and NOT to the Pink Mist.

Using Tonic® Essentials Oval Dies cut out the sentiment and edge with Studio G® - Pigment Pink.

Adhere about 1/2" from the bottom of the front panel and carefully on to the Newsprint.

At this point I liked the card but felt it needed some embellishment. Hang on the best part is coming!

I copied and pasted the main image so I could use it to embellish my card.

Color the main floral images and fussy cut.

Using Foam® Tape, align and adhere the flowers over the flowers of the cone.

Fussy cut the Peony and adhere over the Peony of the cone using Foam® Tape.

I wanted a beautiful crystal doorknob. So,

I used the Crystal off of a Nuvo® Crystal Drops cap. It seemed to fit perfectly.

Using Onyx Pearls® place small dots randomly in the center of the Peony. Use Apple Green® and place small dots around the centers of the Magnolias. Let dry.

OPTIONAL: Arrange and adhere a couple of strips of the coordinating scraps and name plaque on the backside of the cardbase as shown. If desired, you could also add a floral image.
